Braastad – XO Superior Contemporary Art Cognac
An elegant cognac with floral subtleties, with a unique complexity and balance. A dark reddish-brown colour emanating a lightness with notes of jasmine flowers. A pleasant and sublime cognac with a remarkable finish on the palate.
A selection specially designed by the Master Cellar Master Richard Braastad. Very old cognacs from four of the six regions have been selected by Richard Braastad to create this particularly complex blend.
Snøhetta, in collaboration with the Norwegian musician and artist Magne Furuholmen, has designed the latest bottle of Braastad XO Contemporary cognac and its packaging.
"This limited edition piece uses a design and colours rarely associated with this type of drink, an expression that reinforces the Braastad brand. "
Braastad XO Contemporary challenges to create a visual expression of what inspires them about the world for Cognac.
The craftsmanship and heritage of the Norwegian Braastad family in the historical activity of Cognac production inspired the artwork of Furuholmen. Based on two limited editions made especially for this project, the letters used in the design form the words "XO" and "Contemporary".
Snohetta's graphic designers worked with Furuholmen's prints to re-imagine both the bottle and the box in a playful and unique design, bringing new expression to a traditional drink.
The result is a very rich and powerful, yet harmonious and balanced cognac.
The first XO Superior took part in the international Wine and Spirit competition in London in 2007, and cellar master Richard Braastad was proud to receive the silver medal.
