Wine calendar - Cognac Cocktail Connection
On 23 January 2020, cognac will be the star of the evening at the 7th edition of the Cognac Cocktail Connexion. To your shakers!
For the seventh consecutive year, the Bureau national interprofessionnel du cognac (BNIC) will be in the capital for an evening devoted to mixology and cognac. Neophytes and cocktail lovers will be able to discover a whole festival of beautifully crafted creations, all magnified by the aromatic bouquet of cognac in an exceptional place: the glass roof of the Officine du Louvre at the Hôtel du Louvre. Thanks to a new generation of bartenders, the French spirit, which was of high quality but remained too long relegated to the rank of daddy's digestif, will be given pride of place again.
Did you know that..: Launched six years ago by the BNIC, the travelling event between Paris and Bordeaux is above all a training and awareness programme for barmen and bar owners, to get these prescribers to put cognac back on their cards. The aim is to show the mixability and aromatic richness of this eau-de-vie which is too often forgotten. For its production, grape juice (must) is sufficient. It comes from white grape varieties such as ugni blanc, colombard or folle-blanche. After the harvest, the grapes are pressed and the must is fermented. After a few days, a double distillation is necessary as well as an ageing in oak barrels which will transform the must into cognac.
Practical information: Cognac Cocktail Connexion, January 23rd at the Hôtel du Louvre, 1, place André-Malraux, 75001 Paris. Starting at 7pm. Reservations required.
